RFID Keyless Ignition

Rate this Entry
I'm going to start posting my blog's here too. Hope you enjoy.

This is the keyless ignition I made for the Electric motorbike. It uses a PICAXE 08M programmed to read the cards ID number and then decide whether this is a correct card or not.

If the correct card or tag is swiped over the reader (ID-12) the 08m sends a signal to the green LED showing that the bike is turned on. If a card that is not programmed into the 08m is swiped, the red LED flashes for 2 seconds, thus telling us that that card will not turn the bike on.

Thanks to the Bright Sparks for help!!!!

Yeah, I really like how it's turned out. It was my first project with PICAXE and programming and all. But I understand it well now, and hope to do many more projects!
Should work well with the bike.

Great idea. I have all the parts to do that here...mmmmmmmmm

Wonder if Tammy would notice the reader on her Toyota?

Thanks. Haha dunno? You could hide it under the bonnet or underneath the window for a car. It reads upto about 2 inches or so. I may develop it further.

It's great fun, even if you end up not using it. I now have the ability to built more things with basic programming.
