never saw a production bike with streamlining? lol...189mph...something does not seem right here. it is awesome to see the advancement in speeds that they have made though.

I'm truly impressed if they did that while pulling the generator/solar panel trailer

Very confused by this one. They did 216 MPH before and then this 189 MPH pass is called the LSR? Doesn't really make much sense to me.

Dicey, LSRs have a very wide variety of records. You have partial fairing, full fairing and I am sure all sorts of other fairinged records in-between. Then you have production vehicle LSR's with vehicles >50 produced vs. prototypes. You also have gas vs. fuel vs. diesel vs. electric and then you have different displacements, different # of cylinders and now different voltage ranges. Here is the wild world of classes.

As you can see this is just a few of the categories, but there is a HUGE diversity of records for a vehicle to attempt at Bonneville (SCTA), ECTA or NEDRA. Richard now has the production electric motorcycle record.

    Hope this helps.

    EDIT: Congrads Richard!

Here is a Visor Down report on Lightning's effort. It includes a mention that they were using photo cells to power up their battery pack and a picture of their bike and charging trailer:

I believe the record is specific to the El Mirage lakebed, and it is a production motorcycle record, not just an electric motorcycle record.

    Here's David Herron's report at examiner.com:
