75 mile tour of Western Michigan

If this thing had the 11.5 kWh Kokam pack of the Norton Electra, instead of 8 kWh of plain LiFePo4, it would all fit inside the frame, be lighter, and could go a REAL 100 miles on a charge.

As it is, it matches the range of a Leaf.

Imagine if it had an aero luggage box, instead of a pile of suitcases?

I'll be competing against this guy (mr schultz) at mid-ohio. He is down to 68 wh/mile at 55mph without a good tail fairing! I am hoping I can get to 80wh/mile at 55mph with the rest of my fairings and maybe a makeshift tail. Then if I do a 90%DOD (~7.4kWh) I should have 90 miles or so.

So far i have gone 30 miles on 29Ah averaging 36mph at about 82 wh/mile. This is all without making much aerodynamic improvements on my part. Like Schultz i would like to develop a aero tail section, but i want to keep a sport bike look to it.

I am very excited to meet Mr Schultz and Mr Vetter to learn more about what i can do to improve my aero

If he has time. Something about work, and paying the bills. :-(

"but i want to keep a sport bike look to it."

I recently saw someone make a negative comment about the first generation Honda Insight...saying it looked like a spaceship, instead of a car. It was the most aerodynamic production car ever produced. It did look like a spaceship...or a dolphin, or a hawk, or anything else intended to move efficiently through a fluid. Motor vehicles mostly have looked like lawn furniture, small houses, phallic symbols...anything but efficient vehicles.

Of course, you guys do understand that all these little seat tails are strictly for show? They are completely buried in the huge wake off the front of the bike. You may as well have Kraig's suitcases back there.
